A Treatise on Carriages; Comprehending Coaches, Chariots, Phaetons, Curricles, Whiskies, &c.

SKU: 17657

Originally published in London in 1794 and 1796. The title goes on: "Together with their Harness. In Which the Fair Prices of Every Article are Accurately Stated." This facsimile reproduces the 2 volumes of Felton's work. There are detailed descriptions and drawings of the various carriages. Perhaps you could build your own. And, to the discontent of his fellow carriage-makers, tables of prices for everything. With a modern preface by Ron Vineyard of Colonial Williamsburg and Introduction by Rudolf H. Wackemagel. Bound in maroon cloth with red and gilt titles and decorations. Very readable to the modern person, as Felton explains he is a craftsman, not an educated scholar (even though some S's look like F's to me). Like new. Scarce in New condition, very good price! The Astragal Press. Mendham, New Jersey. 1996. Hb. USED. $135.00
