Winter In Majorca.

With Jose Quadrado's Refutation of George Sand. Translated and annotated by Robert Graves. George Sand and her two children, with Chopin, only lived in Majorca for three months in 1838. At that time, she was a bit much for the Majorcans with her cigarettes and men's clothing. Apparently, they were a bit much for her, as this scathing travel book shows. The book is a classic travelogue, in spite of its inaccurate and denigrating portrayals of the Majorcans. Graves's notes help set the record straight and Quadrado's refutation completes the job.
