Survey of poetry and fiction includes categories such as England at the turn of the century (1890-1914), The Aesthetic Movement, The Celtic Revival, etc. Includes women poets and novelists, perhaps grudgingly. Jane Austen is mentioned a few times as a way to belittle the women writers, as their work is compared to how she wrote about such a limited slice of life. There's even a snide comment questioning how long she could have gone on writing novels about her little world.
