Scarce facscimile of the original pubication. Includes 22 charades and conundrums, three by Jane Austen and the rest by other family members including James Leigh Perrot, James Austen, Cassandra Austen, Henry Austen, James Edward Austen. George Austen, Francis William Austen. All the answers are included in the back, except one. There is also a little family tree. Several illustrations include a sketch of Steventon Rectory. drawings by Ellen G. Hill, and family portraits. First edition not dated, but the introduction, believed to be by M.A. Austen-Leigh, is dated June, 1895. Gilson has quite a bit of information in entry F2, where he epxlains that a note inserted in the Bodleian's copy explains the charades were printed to be sold at a Bazaar held for the beneift of St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London.
