Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man.
Illustrated by William Nicholson. Sassoon [1886-1967] is known as a poet of the First World War, describing the horrors of trench warfare and discontent of soldiers. He also wrote a three-volume fictionalized autobiography, of which this is the first. Originally published in 1928 by Faber and Faber, this copy is the first edition published in America with illustrations. It was, however, printed in Britain at the Chiswick Press London. Sassoon published the first edition anonymously, but all three books, known as the Sherston Trilogy, turned out to be extremely popular. This edition proudly bears his name.
