Creevey's Life and Times: A Further Selection from the Correspondence of Thomas Creevey.

SKU: 16925

Creevey [1768-1838], who became an MP in 1802, was a Whig politician with a large social circle. By lucky coincidence, he was the first civilian to interview the Duke of Wellington after Napoleon's defeat near the Belgian border, immortalizing a famous Wellington quote. His diary and vast correspondence have long been mined for information on the late Georgian era. (Mention of new novel Emma in a letter from Lady Holland to Mrs Creevey.) John Murray, London, 1937.
