Lovely little book with 96 full-color prints showing Western men's and women's fashions from the time of Louis XV to machine-sewn muslins of the 1920's. Each plate meticously drawn by the author. There are also B&W plates of accessories like hats and wigs, and numerous B&W sketches throughout the book. Originally pubished in 1956 in Britain by Blandford, and republished by Macmillan and Blandford in 1971, recognizing that rebellious fashions of the 1960's and 1970's show that what comes around goes around, and there is not much new in fashion.
