Royal Mail Jane Austen Stamps.

SKU: M10121

Jane Austen was only the second woman to be commemorated on a British postal stamp. The first was Florence Nightengale in 1970. These stamps were illustrated by Barbra Brown. The four stamps depict Emma stopping to speak with her father after an errand, Catherine Morland, a great-coated Mr. Darcy outside, and Mary and Henry Crawford looking only slightly decadent around the house. You can buy a set of 4 unused stamps for $10. Various packaging, some in British Mail folded card, some in original envelopes that were mailed to individual collectors. We also have some sets postmarked on British Mail First Day Cover posted from Steventon Basingstoke Hants Post Office, First day of Issue 22 October 1975. USED. $10.00
