Perdita: The Memoirs of Mary Robinson (1758-1800).

SKU: 11316

Edited and with an introduction by M.J. Levy. Mary Robinson's [1758-1800] performance of Perdita captivated the young Prince of Wales, and she became his first mistress. After their breakup, she continually remade herself and became a poet, a novelist, and an early feminist. She differed in approach from Mary Wollstonecraft, but was greatly admired by contemporary stars including William Godwin, Sir Joshua Reynolds, the Duchess of Devonshire, Marie Antoinette, and David Garrick. In these memoirs she downplays her talents and followings. Book is near fine/like new. Peter Owen, London & Chester Springs. 1994. Hb, Dj. USED. $25.00
