An 1815 Manuscript Album with Over 190 Patterns. This is a reproduction of a hand-drawn album of embroidery patterns signed and dated 1805 by Elizabeth M. Townshend. These books were common in that time period, but most did not survive because the patterns were used by pricking them and then placing them over the cloth, and dusting them with charcoal to create the patter on the cloth. Nothing is known about the artist and why the designs were not used, but the interesting introduction offers theories. Reproduced and published by Dover Publications. 1985. Paper. NEW. $6.00
