Miss Marjoribanks.
SKU: 18151
Edited with Introduction and Notes by Elisabeth Jay, who wrote a scholarly biography of Margaret Oliphant [1828-1897]. Miss Marjoribanks, originally published in 1866, is about a heroine who is not perfect. After time at boarding school and a European tour, she returns home and vows to take very good care of her widowed father, with little interest in courting. She will have a huge impact on her father, the household, and the town of Carlingford. Delightful comedy. Includes a Chronology, an Appendix on Miss Marjoribanks in Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine where it was serialised in 1865, and an Appendix of variants between the serial edition and the first three-volume edition.
