Ivanhoe.

SKU: 18095

Edited with an Introduction and Notes by A. N. Wilson. Scott [1771-1832] did not invent the heroic historical novel, as we know due to Devoney Looser's biography of the (lost to history but best sellers in their day) Porter sisters. But we still remember his recreation of the age of chivalry. Noble Ivanhoe (published 1819] returns from the Crusades to claim his inheritance and the love of Rowena, a Saxon princess. He struggles with princes Richard Coeur de Lion and John, befriends Robin Hood and Friar Tuck and the merry men, and has many other chivalric adventures. Penguin Classics. 1986. Paper. USED. $4.00
