Introduction by Robert H. Taylor. In 1869 Trollope decided to make his second attempt at writing a play. The plot of this play is pulled from the novel he considered his best, The Last Chronical of Barset. In his introduction, Taylor explains that Trollope failed rather miserably at both plays he attempted, but states it's valuable to read this play anyway, expecting we want to read all of Trollope's inventions.
