Life and Letters: Essays by J. C. Squire.

SKU: 11460

Squire [1884-1958] was a prolific writer, controlled a great deal of publishing coming out of WWI, and was sometimes on the wrong end of critics and politics. The chapter on Austen in this book, though, is sufficiently worshipful for our tastes, and thus can be forgiven its small slights toward our favorite author.  Together with Eileen H. A. Squire, J. C. also wrote a play based on Pride and Prejudice. 320 pgs. George H. Doran Company, New York. Jacket with some tears, now in mylar.  Hb, Dj. USED. $20.00
