Fowles set his famous novel The French Lieutenant's Woman in Lyme, resarched the town extensivtely, and held the position of honorary curator at the Lyme Regis Museum for many years. This book holds a collection of nearly 150 b&W photographs of Luyme Regis taken from 1850 to the time of this books publication in 1990, with an introduction and explanatory subtitles by Fowles.
