This bio does not, as the title might suggest, focus on that one moment of Mary Lamb's life that defined her forever, when she violently murdered her mother in a fit of insanity. This book is rather a delightfully detailed view into the literary world of Mary and her brother Charles, their friendships with Coleridge and the Wordsworths, Godwin and abolitionists, their work in children's literature, and their whole fascinating life living in "double singleness."
