The Cathedral.

SKU: 18017

From the jacket: "A novel set within the mellow confines of a Chathedral town wherein there occurs a desparate struggle for selfish power between two men." Fellow Jane Austen fan Walpole [1884-1941] was a best-seller in the US and UK in the 1920's and 1930's. Here he applies his wit and probably inside knowledge, given his father's career in the church, to tell his story. The book is slightly cocked, but together and with clean pages except for page 455-5 which appears to have been crunched and then straightened and taped. Jacket did not often survive. It's here but then and worn. A previous price sticker is on the lower jacket spine. A previous owner signed inside the front cover in pencil. Grosset & Dunlap Publishers, New York, by arrangement with George H. Doran Company. 1922. Hb, Dj. USED. $35.00
