A survey from Anglo-Saxon times to the turn of the 19th century written to serve as a textbook. Also worked as a general chronological resource with short literary biographies. It's always interesting to us to see what people wrote about Jane Austen in different time periods in these surveys, if she is included, and she is included in this one. Originally published in 1902, this edition has updates and Lovett says in his preface he has enhanced the history in some areas.
