SKU: 11324
Marivaux [1688-1763] was a novelist and prolific author who influenced the French Englightenment, as well as many English language authors such as Richardson, Fielding, and Sterne. This is the first book-length study of Marivaux's novels in English. The author shows how Marivaux took traditional themes and adapted them to fit the tastes of the late 17th and early 18th centuries, which was a step toward the formation of the modern novel.
