We know this is the last book in the series, so we should not be surprised to find Jane frail, hanging on stoicially to hope of a return to health. Her dear friends the Bigg sisters visit on the way to taking Elizabeth's son (William Heathcote, 5th Baronet of Hursley) to Winchester school. There are concerns about the bullying there. Jane and Cassandra question their nephew Edward (known to us as James Edward Austen Leigh) about conditions there, as he and his Kent cousins all attend the school, and are concerned to learn about hazing that is standard practice. Something bad is likely to come of this, and Jane, in spite of her frail health, is likely to get involved. We will all surely cry as the series ends, but never mind, we can read all 15 books again!
