Jane Austen in Lyme Regis. A Fantasy.
Ragg imagines Austen's visit to Lyme Regis, granted by St. Peter. Austen is delighted by some changes she sees, saddened by others, and ultimately overwhelmed when she realizes, by overhearing a radio news broadcast (that she supposes is someone reading the newspaper aloud), that the whole world is at war. Contains much interesting information about the changes Jane would have seen between her last visit to Lyme and the 1940's, as she visits familiar locations and is variously surprised. No date, but written during WW2. The original purchaser wrote "Lyme Regis 25/9/46" inside the front cover. Top corner of covers and pages chipped. Cover with a bit of sun fading. A previous owner's name stamp on front cover and again on first page. Penciled "not in Gilson" and "scarce" on the first page by a previous seller. Stapled booklet. Back cover is printed with "W. Dando Printer and Publisher, Miles Bldgs. Bath." USED. $45.00
