Peabody [1874-1922] was an American author known especially for her poetry. She published this play about Mary Wollstonecraft toward the end of her too-short life when she had become more concerned with issues of social justice. She was heavily influenced by Shakespeare; she wrote an earlier play on Christopher Marlowe.  Original paper covers, paper label to spine, slightly soiled.
