Portrait of Mrs. W.: A Play in Three Acts with an Epilogue.
Peabody [1874-1922] was an American author known especially for her poetry. She published this play about Mary Wollstonecraft toward the end of her too-short life when she had become more concerned with issues of social justice. She was heavily influenced by Shakespeare; she wrote an earlier play on Christopher Marlowe. Original paper covers, paper label to spine, slightly soiled. A previous owner has pasted in an extra picture of Wollstonecraft in the front endpaper. Houghton Mifflin. 1922. Fist Edition. Boston and New York: The Houghton Mifflin Company.
