Our Partnership.
Edited by Barbara Drake and Margaret I. Cole. Beatrice Webb (nee Potter) [1858-1943] and her husband Sidney Webb, 1st Baron Passfield [1859-1947] were English socialist economists intensely interested in social reform. Beatrice conducted social research using the scientific method. Her husband helped found the London School of Economics and was an MP. Both were members of the Fabian Society. They founded the New Statesman magazine, were staunch trade unionists. They co-wrote several books including History of Trade Unionism and Industrial Democracy. Beatrice was working on this book for years but never published it, and Sidney requested that Drake and Cole edit the material and bring the book to publication after Beatrice's death. It covers the period 1892-1911 and tells her first-hand observations and experiences during those years of change. Very good with worn jacket now protected in mylar. Longmans, Green and Co. 1948.
