Acworth lived in Westminster with her husband Abraham in the second half of the 18th century. She had a family collection of recipes to which she added throughout her life. The editors exerimented and researched the recipes, and have transribed and updated 90 of them for this book. The recipes are presented in their original form, and then updated for modern use. Mrs Acworth's recipes cover a wide range of cookery, with soups, meat and game, breads, cakes, creams and desserts, preserves, and drinks.
