The Hornblower Companion.

SKU: 18041

With maps and drawings by Samuel H. Bryant. Forester [1899-1966] created the beloved fictional British naval officer Horatio Hornblower, immortalized by Gregory Peck and Ioan Gruffun. This companion book was first published in 1964. It includes 30 maps with text and drawings based on Hornblower's travels and actions at sea. These chapters are followed by 67 pages of "personal notes" where Forester describes how he went about creating this character and the novels, and how they relate to the real world of the Royal Navy. Book is in excellent condition with clean pages, no foxing, but is reduced in price due to a hard bump it has sustained on the page edges (see photo). Naval Institute Press. Annapolis. 1998. Paper.
