Edward Bulwar-Lytton [1803-1873], an English writer and politician, Known for the phrase "it was a dark and stormy night," he also coined "the great unwashed" and "the pen is mightier than the sword." His novels were extremely popular during his life. His marriage was a mess. Sadlier covers the years of his marriage, which caused his mother to oust him and led to his need to work.
