He is disgusted by Richardson's Clarissa, offended by Aphra Behn's immorality, and deems episodes of many great novels unfit for civilized reading. But thank goodness he doesn't totally dis our favorite Jane Austen. The husband-hunting she describes is shameful, her treatment of clergymen irreligious, but at least she is not so shocking as to deserve being thrown into the fire. Gilson M131. VG, USED. $20.00
