Sir Walter Scott in Italy, 1832.

SKU: 14028

Ed. with notes by James C. Corson. Sir Walter Scott went to Italy for his health in 1831, accompanied by Sir William Gell. After Scott's death, his daughter asked Gell to record his reminiscences for Scott's biographer, Lockhart. But Lockhart only used excerpts from Gell's writings, which remained in private hands until 1952. This publication in 1957 includes endnotes and 10 plates. A must-read for the Scott enthusiast. Thin book covered in red cloth with blue dust jacket, dust jacket with edge tears and light soiling. Pages yellowing. Thomas Nelson and Sons, Ltd, 1957. USED. $14.00
