The Marquess of Anglesey, F.S.A.

One-Leg: The Life and Letters of Henry William Paget, First Marquess of Anglesey 1768-1854.

The author is the great-great grandson of the subject. This Knight of the Garter, Field Marshall and privy councillor, lost his leg at Waterloo. He continued to ride and was commander of the 7th Hussars for 45 years. This biography starts with the Grand Tour where he gets into trouble. He managed to get back to England and got into more trouble. Brilliant, charismatic, and heroic, he ended up being a close friend of Wellington after their initial problems, and died a hero. This book is X-Lib with various condition problems but has a plastic cover, and is structurally sound and clean. William Morrow and Co, NY. 1961. Hb, Dj. USED. $4.00
