Peace in Piccadilly: The Story of Albany.
Life in London over the period 1800 to 1950 centered around Albany. Albany was originally Melbourne House, built by Lord Melbourne, and a center of the world of fashion and politics in the 18th century. In 1802 it was converted into private flats. Jane's brother Henry Austen had offices there. Others who took rooms there include Lord Byron at the time of his affair with Lady Caroline Lamb, Monk Lewis, William Gladstone, Macaulay, and many other interesting people.
