The New Bath Guide.
With an introduction and notes on the text by Gavin Turner. Illustrated. The New Bath Guide was Anstey's first published poem in English and was his major work. First published in 1766, the publication consists of a series of humorous poems that form memoirs of a party of visitors from the North of the country to Bath in 1766. The poems are letters to family and friends, and each character has their own poetic style and subject matter. The actual guide takes up 62 of 176 pages. The rest includes extensive notes on each poem so the modern reader can appreciate the satire, as well as a helpful introduction that includes biographical information about Anstey and his relationship to Bath. Cream cloth with gilt title on spine with Good jacket in plastic. Broadcast Books. Bristol. 1994. Hb, Dj. USED. $14.00
