Guide Through the Romantic Movement.
Originally published in 1930 when Bernbaum's views about the Romantic period in literature were somewhat radical. In this 2nd ed, Bernbaum updated and added quite a bit to take into account the changes in scholarship that had occurred during the 1930's and 1940's. Bernbaum sets the authors in place, relates their own lives to their works, and shows how they influenced one another in addition to how dramatic changes in natural philosophy and other prevailing thought interacted with literature. Includes a section on Pre-Romantic period and both prefaces. Red cloth, gilt title, clean, owner's signature in front. The Ronald Press Company, New York. 1949. Hb. No dj. USED. $12.00
