Fragment of a Novel written by Jane Austen January - March 1817, Now first printed from the manuscript. 250 copies printed on hand-made paper. Facsimile of a page of Ausen's Sanditon inserted in the front. Teal paper, white cloth spine and paper label, with spare label tipped in. This limited edition is larger than the subsequent printing. 170 pgs + notes. Includes signed note from RW Chapman and his writing inside the book, as follows: first endpaper in front is inscribed "K B McFarlane from the editor June (illegible) 43". Also included is a note folded inside the book in the same hand "I can only blush --- & throw in a makeright. R W C 2/6/43" and "K B McF".  K. B. McFarlane [1903-1966] was a noted medieval historian also at Oxford. Corners are bumped and worn but book is very clean. Clarendon Press, Oxford, First Edition. Hb. 1925. USED. $115.00
