There are brief definitions places as footnotes throughout - not overdone, and definitely helpful to first-time readers. Half-inch colorful artwork on each page results in a pattern on the side edge of the pages reminiscent of old marbled page edges. The covers are heavy vinyl and the book is printed on heavy paper.
